February 10, 2004 52(~ <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday= February 10, 2004, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Hol!ey III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *Cameron C. Pitts, <br />*J. Thomas Benn i1!, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B; Whitehurst, St., Madene W. Randall, <br />City Manager C. W. McCoy, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />04 - 54 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2004 for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br />By order of the Mayor." <br />04 - 55 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br />1. Mosquito Control Year-End Report ~ C. J. Neeley/James R. Spacek <br />2. Jamestown 2007 Community- Nancy Perry <br />3. Legislative Update - Eric D. Campbell <br /> <br />04 - 56 - Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to go into Closed Meeting <br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 (A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the <br />following: <br /> <br /> - to consult with legal counsel about specific legal matters requiring legal advice, as <br />authorized by paragraph 7. <br /> <br /> The subject matter shall be legal matters in the nature of contracts involving the City. <br /> <br /> The purpose shall be to protect the financial interest of the City and its taxpayers by <br />having confidential discussion of this subject matter. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Moody, pursuant to Section <br />2.2-3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br /> 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by <br /> the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the <br /> Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting <br /> by the City Council.' <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> Senior Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br /> APPROVED - <br /> <br /> Dr. James W.
