February 10, 2004 52(~ At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday= February 10, 2004, there were present: Mayor James W. Hol!ey III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *Cameron C. Pitts, *J. Thomas Benn i1!, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B; Whitehurst, St., Madene W. Randall, City Manager C. W. McCoy, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. 04 - 54 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2004 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 04 - 55 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Mosquito Control Year-End Report ~ C. J. Neeley/James R. Spacek 2. Jamestown 2007 Community- Nancy Perry 3. Legislative Update - Eric D. Campbell 04 - 56 - Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 (A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: - to consult with legal counsel about specific legal matters requiring legal advice, as authorized by paragraph 7. The subject matter shall be legal matters in the nature of contracts involving the City. The purpose shall be to protect the financial interest of the City and its taxpayers by having confidential discussion of this subject matter. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Moody, pursuant to Section 2.2-3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.'
