June 24,2003 <br /> <br />· This program provides free, nutritious meals during the summer to youth who are <br />economically disadvantaged, while providing wholesome recreational, educational and <br />cultural programs. <br /> <br />· This year's program will provide 97,350 breakfasts and 51,250 lunches to youth at <br />24 locations. <br /> <br />· The Department has provided free and nutritious meals for more than 20 years to <br />youth who are economically disadvantaged. Last year, the summer program served <br />79,720 breakfasts and 35,613 lunches to children at 18 locations. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· This is reimbursable grant and there is no local match required. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $272,588 IN THE GRANTS FUND TO FUND THE <br />USDA SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Pitts, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />03 - 220 - Mr. Benn offered nominations for the following Boards and Commissions: <br /> <br />BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE SERVICES BOARD <br /> <br />Stephanie Revell to be appointed for a three year term ending June 30, 2006, replacing <br />Anne J.
