June 10, 2003 36 1 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, June '10~ 2003, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *Cameron C. Pitts, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., Marlene W. Randall, City Manager C. W. McCoy, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. 03 - 203 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2003 for the ~urpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 03 - 204 - The [ollowing items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Neighborhood Quality Action Plan Report - William B. McGlaughon/Susan H. Burton 2. Citizen Survey Report 2003 - Kenneth M. Wheeler 3. Path to Glory - Nancy S. Perry/Richard A. Hartman 03 - 205 - Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to go into Closed Meeting )ursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 (A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: appointments to boards and commissions, as per subsection 3; and legal matters requiring the advice of legal counsel, as per subsection 7. The subject matter shall be appointments and legal matters, respectively, and the ~urpose shall be to protect the public interest in having frank and orderly consideration of confidential subject matter. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded By Mr. Pitts, 'pursuant to Section 2.2-3712(D) of the Code of virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened; were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
