March 25, 2003 "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH'S PARTICIPATION IN THE CERTIFIED CRIME PREVENTION COMMUNITY PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the New Partnership Commission for Community Safety (the "Commission") was created by Executive Order of the Governor in 1988 with a charge to advise the Governor on new initiatives to promote community safety, particularly youth and family safety; and WHEREAS, at the Commission's request, the state Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) developed the Certified Crime Prevention Community Program ("the Program") to publicly recognize and certify localities that have implemented a defined set of community safety strategies as part of a comprehensive community safety/crime prevention effort; and WHEREAS, participation by a locality in the Program has such advantages as using the Certified Crime Prevention Community Program designation as a marketing tool for new residents, tourists, businesses, conference planners, etc., receiving local preference in the state criminal justice grant application process, and obtaining reductions from insurance companies; and WHEREAS, it is to the advantage of those individuals residing and conducting business with the City that the City of Portsmouth participate in the Program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that it hereby authorizes participation by the City of Portsmouth in the Certified Crime Prevention Community Program and also authorizes and directs the City Manager to take such actions as may be required to demonstrate the City's support for the Program, including the execution of such documents as may be necessary." COMMISSION OF ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW CRADOCK/TRUXTUN/OLDE TOWNE Sara A. Steele to be appointed to fill an unexpired term ending April 30, 2004, replacing Kelly Nolte. Lionel D. Eatroff to be reappointed for a three year term ending April 30, 2006. CLEAN COMMUNITY COMMISSION Walter Broda to be appointed for a three year term ending June 30, 2006, replacing Madalyn M. Grimes. Charles S. Magruder to be appointed for a three year term ending March 31,2006, replacing Raleigh Harsley. Karen V. Butler to be reappointed for a three year term ending June 30, 2006. Kimberly B. Little to be reappointed for a three year term ending June 30, 2006. Mary E. Phillips to be reappointed for a three year term ending June 30, 2006. Eleanor E. Thompson to be reappointed for a three year term ending June 30, 2006.
