January 28, 2003 <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· This parcel of approximately 20 acres and known as "Parcel 2" on that certain <br />survey entitled, "Boundary Survey of a portion of Fairwood Homes Property of <br />Portsmouth Partners of Virginia" is adjacent to the Bide-a-Wee Manor neighborhood <br />(see map attached). <br /> <br />· This conveyance would place the property into the appropriate Authority for sale and <br />development. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· There will be no funds changing hands as a result of the conveyance. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY A PARCEL OF <br />LAND LOCATED ON THE SOUTHERLY SIDE OF GREENWOOD DRIVE ADJACENT <br />TO BIDE-A-WEE MANOR TO THE PORTSMOUTH INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT <br />AUTHORITY. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the <br />City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute a deed of conveyance and <br />such other documents or plats as may be necessary to convey that portion of Parcel 2 <br />lying south of McLean Street and east of Greenwood Drive as shown on that certain plat <br />entitled: "Boundary Survey of a Portion of Fairwood Homes Property of Portsmouth <br />Partners of Virginia" containing approximately 19.85 acres, recorded in the Clerk's <br />Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia in Map Book 16, page 161, <br />to Portsmouth Industrial Development Authority." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Randall, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />03 - 32 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing Chief Joseph Pozzo to serve as the agent <br />for the City of Portsmouth related to the United States Office of Justice (OJP) Programs <br />administered by the Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> <br />Chief Pozzo will serve as the agent for the City of Portsmouth for the purpose of <br />obtaining certain Federal financial assistance under OJP, National Domestic <br />Preparedness Office Grant Program(s), administered by the Commonwealth of <br />Virginia. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of a resolution authorizing Chief Joseph Pozzo to serve as the agent for <br />the City of Portsmouth related to the U.S. Office of Justice (OJP) programs <br />administered by the Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· The City is in the process of submitting applications for four (4) grants from the <br />United States Office of Justice, National Domestic Preparedness Office. <br /> <br />· Chief Pozzo has been designated as the point of contact by the City Manager for the <br />grants. <br /> <br />· The grant application package requires a resolution by the local governing body to <br />designate an applicant's agent for the grant process. <br /> <br /> <br />
