<br /> Gentlemen:--Your Finance Committee respectfully reports herein

<br />concerning the several matters referred to the Joint Finance Committee March 10th, January 14th and

<br />November 12th, as follows:

<br /> To consider an appropriation for paving two *blocks on Eom-th street, between Court and 0raw-
<br />ford, Middle street, and two blocks on Lincoln street, between Fourth and Sixth. Progress.

<br /> An appropriation of $1800 to pave Glasgow street from Effingh~m to west line of matron, with
<br />old stone on hand. Progress.
<br />
<br /> An appropriation of $145 for a sewer pipe at corner of Zouth and middle streets.

<br /> It is recommended that the appropriation be allowed.-

<br /> An appropriation of $150 for contingent expenses at the ~Nayor's offlee.

<br /> It is recommended that the appropriation be allowed.

<br /> Cancelled coupons to amount of $9,3~2.50, reported by the Auditor. Progress.

<br /> (With City Attorney). An order of Court allowing Richard J. Davis $25 for defending William
<br />McQueen in two cases of felon~.

<br /> It is recommended that ~r. Davis be paid the $25.00.

<br /> Recommitted, Matter of failure of the Portsmouth Coal & Ice Company and of I. 0. Brinkley
<br />to give bonds for execution of their contracts with the 0!ry, Progress.

<br /> A petition of L. C. Calvert, policeman, to be allowed $20.32 for nine days lost from duty
<br />in January, 1908, on account of sickness.

<br /> It is recommended that the petition be granted.

<br /> The Auditor's and Treasurer's reports for February.

<br /> The Clerk says that he has examined these reports ~nd found them to be correct.
