That brick, on a eoner~e base be adopted as the material with which to pave the streets.
in m~king this recommendation we call attention to the accompanying petition: which was presented
to the 0ommittee at its last meeting. Our investigation of the merit of the t~o m~teri~ts, how-
ever, prevents us from rendering a re~ort in harmony with the petition: which we exceedingly regret.
Second. ~e recommend that the low%st bid for the best brick be adopted, viz.~ the bid of Lewis
Lmwser~for "Mack Brick~ at $2.28 per yard~ and curbing at 54 cents, per lineal foot. Total amount
of bid, $57,728.00.
(Signed) E.B. Hawks,
0hairm~n of Joint Committee.

On motions, the recommended appropriations of $1,500 to divert the drain f~om the '~atts prop-

erty" on ~aS]ii.ngton street; $~,550 for et~bing~ud guttering streets in ~es~ Park View; and $25,000
for a cremmtory were referred to the Joint Fin~nee Committee; and the other recommendations, except

for pavia, were axlopted without objection.

(~k%~. Withy excused from further attendance).

In connection with the recommendation of the Committee as to the pavement of streets a petition

was ~ead, from sundr~residents of Niddle street: and others~ to have said street paved with Asphmlt

- instead of bricks.

Whereupon~ ~Lv. Johnson moved that the recommendation of the Committee thereon be adopted.
