Motion by Mr.'.Hawks~ Jand seconded by Mr. King, to adopt the <br />following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $40,000.00 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR THE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT THE <br />INTERSECTION OF TOWNE POINT ROAD AND DUNKIRK STREET AND AT THE <br />INTERSECTION OF GREENWOOD DRIVE AND GARWOOD AVENUE." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />94-166 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to close a portion of Pennock Street. <br /> <br /> "An application has been filed by the City of Portsmouth to <br />close an unimproved portion of Pennock Street. The viewers you <br />previously appointed have recommended approval of the <br />application. The Planning Commission concurs in this <br />recommendation. <br /> <br /> I, therefore, recommend adoption of the ordinance closing <br />the designated portion of Pennock Street, as requested." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr, Clemons, to <br />adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br />"AN OP~DINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF PENNOCK STREET." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />94-1S7 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a <br />motion to transfer $26,000 from the Grants Contingency Account <br />to defray the cost of seven art exhibitions along with <br />additional exhibits planned for the auxiliary gallery in the <br />Community Arts Center. <br /> <br /> "I az~ pleased to announce that a grant has been awarded to <br />the Portsmouth Museums Arts Center in the amount of $26,000 by <br />the Business Consortium for Arts Support. <br /> <br /> The funds are specifically earmarked to defray, the cost of <br />seven art exhibitions; along with additional exhibits planned <br />for the auxiliary gallery in the Community Arts Center, exhibit <br />interpretation, audio ~uides and other complementary activities. <br /> <br /> I recommend approval of a motion to transfer funds in the <br />amount of $26,000 from the Grants Contingency Account... <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Epperson, to <br />transfer $26,000 to defray the cost of the exhibitions and <br />additional exhibits for the Community Arts Center, and was <br />adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />94-168 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a <br />motion to refund $220.48, with interest, t6 Larry B. and Connie <br />R. Sawyer. <br /> <br /> "The City Assessor is requesting a refund of $220.48, with <br />interest, to Larry B. & Connie R. Sawyer, whose mailing address <br />is 3800 Peachtree Lane W., Portsmouth, Va. 23703. The building <br />size shown on the records of the City Assessor was incorrect, <br />resulting in an overassessment. This refund is for real estate <br />taxes assessed and paid in error for the fiscal years 1990-91 <br />1991-92 and 1992-93. ' <br /> <br /> <br />
