<br />the classification and pay plan and to amend Chapter 30 of the
<br />City Code to include the 3-2-1 Retirement benefits formula.

<br /> Amended motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr.
<br /> Epperson, to award 1% per year for each year of retirement up
<br /> to 15 years of retirement in the classification and pay plan,
<br /> and was defeated by the following vote=

<br /> Amended motion by Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr.
<br />Griffin, to amend Chapter 30 Of the City Code to provide $200
<br />per month from the date of retirement on or after July 1, 1994
<br />to the age of 65 for retirees of the Fire and Police Retirement
<br />System and the Portsmouth Supplemental:Retirement System, and
<br />was adopted by the following vote:

<br /> Griffin, to adopt the classification and pay plan with noted
<br /> amendments, and was adopted by the following vote:

<br />94-162 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of
<br />the appropriation ordinance for the Operating Budget for the
<br />fiscal year beginning July 1, 1994, and ending June 30, 1~95.
<br />Burt Laskin, representing the Municipal Finance Commission,
<br />spoke in favor of the operating budget.
<br />
<br />J. Thomas Benn, representing the School Board, spoke in
<br />opposition to the proposal for School Board funding.
<br />
<br /> Motion by Mr. Hawks, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to adopt
<br /> the ordinance for the operating budget and to include the
<br /> following: $19,500 for Civic and Social Contributions; the
<br /> addition of $61,602 for the Children's Museum; $30,325 for an
<br /> Arts Curator; $28,500 for advertising.
