May 10, 1994 <br /> <br /> At a Regular Meeting of the City Council held <br />May 10, 1994, ther~ were present: <br /> <br />363 <br /> <br />on Tuesday, <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Lee E. King, Johnny M. <br />Clemons, John H. Epperson, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., James C. <br />Hawks, V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City <br />Attorney. <br /> <br /> Amanda Bell, 1st grade student, James Hurst Elementary <br />School, opened the meeting with prayer which was followed by the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br /> Mayor Webb called the meeting to order and welcomed all in <br />attendance. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, the <br />minutes of a called meeting on April 19, 1994; a Called Meeting <br />on April 26, 1994; and a Regular Meeting on April 26, 1994, be <br />approved, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />94-151 Proclamation presented to Michelle Johnson, Executive <br />Director for "Girls Invent the Future Day". <br /> <br />94-152 - Proclamation presented to Velma Hinnant and Helen <br />Fooshe for "Toastmaster Week". <br /> <br />94-153 - Proclamation presented to Lt. Brenda Lundy, D.A.R.E. <br />Coordinator, for "D.A.R.E. Family Day". <br /> <br />94-154 Proclamation presented to LUia B. <br />Director, Portsmouth Social Services, for <br />Prevention Month". <br /> <br /> Holland, Assistant <br />"Virginia Adult Abuse <br /> <br />94-155 - Proclamation presented to Captain Otis Childs for <br />"Salvation Army Week". <br /> <br />94-157 Non Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Charlie Riddick, 718 Henry Street, spoke on the ABEX <br />Superfund site. <br /> <br />6.
