Ma¥i24, 1994 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, May 24, <br />1994, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria 0. Webb, Vice Mayor Lee E. King, Johnny M. <br />Clemons, John H. Epperson, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Ja~aes C. <br />Hawks, Cameron C. Pitts, C. W. McCoy, Director of General <br />Operations, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. <br /> <br />94-174- The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City CounCil to be <br />held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 <br />Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m,, Tuesday, May 24, 1994, for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> 94-175 - The following items were discussed in the Public <br />Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Design Team <br />2. Fire and Police Retirement <br />3. Jordan Bridge <br />4. Washington Park <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to go <br />into Executive Session pursuant to provisions' ' of Section 2.1-344 <br />of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br /> (1) Consideration of appointments to Boards and Commissions <br />by the City Council as permitted under Subsection (A) (1); <br /> <br /> (2) Discussion or consideration of the acquisition or use <br />of real property for public purpose or the disposition of <br />publicly held property in the central, southern and downtown <br />portions of the City, as permitted under Subsection (A) (3); <br /> <br /> (3) Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff <br />members pertaining to an item of actual litigation {Ruffin <br />case), and an item of probable litigation involving issuance of <br />a business license, as permitted under Subsection (A) (7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Epperson <br />pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying <br />that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from <br />open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information <br />Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified <br />in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were <br />heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br /> Mayor <br /> <br /> Debra Y.
