The proposed building is to have a frontage of forty feet on High street, on a line
with the eourt-house and at least twelve feet from it; The building will scarcely do more than touch
the grass plat, and will run northw~r~_ly fifty-five feet parallel with the court-house.
"3eeon&~ If it is found, that the Olerk's. office diminishes appreciably the light to the court-
ho~m,a's~-Imght woulg be lr~t.in by us, sufficiently large to make up for such diminmtion of light.
~t we have an atternatmve proposition to make you and one which we would prefer, though its
acseptanee by you would entail much more experts on us than the putting in of a sky-light, viz: let
us divide the scurf-houSe by a line running north and south, the Gity to have the east half and the
~ou~ty the west. If this proposition be accepted we shall agree to fix up you~ Court-room and Treas-
urer'S, office eqU~l in every respect to the condition in which they now are.
"The Oommittee desire to add that while they have not been authorized distinctly by the
oil to k~ke you any pro~osition about a sky-Iight or about a re,division of the court-house, they.
are satisfie~ that their action in the m~tter will be endorsed by that bo~y,
"Very respectfully,
"The Pablie 2~operty 0ommittee,
"Per L. P. Slater, City 0!erk."
