Progress. <br /> <br />An appropriation of $50. for ~mboots and~bber scats-for the Sixth and ~even~h Yard firemen, <br /> Progress. <br /> <br /> An appropriation of $1,200. ~or purchase Of five HorseS fTr the Fire Department. <br /> We do not deem it advisable to recommend an appropriation for purchase of five efficient <br />horses for the Fire Department before it~is k~own what the five inefficient horses in said depart- <br />ment can be sold for. <br /> <br /> A~appropriation of $112,13 to pay for hose furnished the Fire Depart~ment by the Quaker City <br />Rubber Company. <br /> The purchase of this hose was never authorized by the 0ounoil but was obtained through a <br />misunderstanding. However. as the hose was sold by the Quaker 0ity Rubber Company to the City in <br />good faith and it w~s needed by the Fire Department, it is recommended that the bill for s~me be <br />paid, but that the Chief of the Fire Department be cautioned to m~ke no mere purchases for the City <br />until he is fully authorized so to do. <br /> <br /> Advisability of relieving householders in the Fifth Ward from payment of night_soil tax for the <br />year 1910. Progress.- <br /> <br /> An appropriation for placing a hydrant at the corner o~ Dinwiddie street and the Hampton Place <br />and one at the corner of'O~estnu~ and ~ streets. <br /> It is recommended that an appropriation be allowed for placing said hydrants. <br /> <br /> TO authorize the Treas~er to renew notes i~ the several 0i~y bauks to amo~ut of $21,000, due <br />November 14;-1910, <br /> It is recommended that said authority be givauand that the following resolution be adop- <br />ted therefor: <br /> Resolved, that the Treasurer be, and he is ~ereby authorized t <br />Ba~k of Port~mouth, The ~erch~n~s and Fa~'mers Ba~k, The !~rst National B~k of Por~smou~a,.and the <br />Bank of Tidewater, to amount of twenty-one thoueaud ($21,000) dollars, due Eovember 14, I910, the <br />said notes to be repaid from revenues of the current year. <br /> <br /> A bill of coroner, Dr, G.
