14, 1994 387 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, June 14, 1994, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Lee E. King, Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., James C. Hawks, Cameron C. Pitts, V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. 94-199 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chan~ber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 1994, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 94-200 The following items were discussed in the Public Work Session: 1. I. C. Norcom High School 2. Noise Ordinance Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. King, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Consideration of appointments to Boards and Commissions by the City Council, as permitted under Subsection (A) (1); (2) Discussion or consideration of the use or disposition of publicly held property in Suffolk, as permitted under Subsection (A) (3); (3) Consultation with the City Attorney and briefing by staff regarding a legal matter involving 1964 Civil Rights Act and its application to the City's work force, as permitted under Subsection (A) (7). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion of Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Pitts pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. On motion me,ting adjourned. APPROVED - Mayor SheiZla Powell Pittman, CMC/AAE City Clerk CoUncilman John Epperson was absent.
