<br />Mr. 0orbitt moved to amend that the body take a recess to consider the appi~cants,
<br />The amendment by Er. 0orbitt was adopted~

<br /> After some time, the body resumed i~s session , when Ohms. E, Murdenwas nominated to fill the
<br />position of Street Inspeetorl and he was elected by the following vote:

<br />The veto of the Mayor was considered next,
<br />
<br /> 2he veto having been read, the City Attorney, who was present, was asked to give his opinion as
<br />to whether the veto eugh~ to be voted o~ as a whole, or whether the items O~ the adopted report ef
<br />the ~oint street Oommittee, objected to by the ~ayor, could be taken up separately.
<br />
<br />The City Attorney replied that the veto could be voted on as a whole only.
<br />

<br />dopting the report of the Joint Street Committee, notwithstanding the Mayor's veto thereof.
<br />
<br /> The Chairman of the Street Oommittee explained at some length the position of his Committee, of
<br />the ~ayor, and of the Norfolk & ~ortsmouth T~ct~on Coml~Uy, in regard to the paying ~rogram; when a
<br />vote was taken on the motion of Mr, Hall, and the same was adopted.
<br />
<br />By common .consent, the following o~her m~tPer-was considered:
