<br />To advertise for bids to put hydra, ts and connecting pipes in the Oak'Grove cemetery.
<br /> We have so advertised and have received the following bid therefor:

<br />First. Matters adopted by the Board of Aldermen September 21st and.referred to the 0ommon Court-

<br /> To authorize the Treasurer to make notes in the several 0ity b~nks to a~ount of $$,000 for main-
<br />tenauce of the public schools in the Sixth and Seventh wards between September 1st and January 1st,
<br />1909; and $3,000 for pay of teachers and janitors in schools of the First, Second, Third, Fourth and
<br />Fifth wards for September, 1909, 0oncurred in.
<br />
<br /> Second. To refer to the Joint Finance Oommittee a request of the Treasurer to m~ke notes in
<br />the several 0ity ba~ks to s~ount of $12,000 to meet 0ity~ current expenses for November, 1909.
<br />
<br /> To a~lopt the followinE resolution for authorizing the Treasurer to renew notes in the several
<br />0itybn.~w~, to ~mount of $~7,600.00.
<br /> Resolved, thmt .the ~reasurer be and he is hereby authorized to
<br />renew notes in The Bank of Portsmouth, The Nerchants a~d F~rmers Bank, and The First National B~.~k
<br />of Portsmouth, to amount of si~ty-seven thoussmd six hundred ($67,600) dollars, or as much of the
<br />same ms may be necessary, to Be repaid from the revenues of the eurren~ year.

<br /> To appoint a joint committee to confer as to disagreement of the two branches in regard~to the
<br />employment of men at the incinerator.
<br />
<br /> To appoint a joint committee to-confer with the' Rev. R. B. Garrett and other ministers of the Gos-.
<br />pel in regard to providing a house of refuge-lo, persons discharged from hospitals and jails.
<br />
<br /> To instruct the ~ity Attorney to proceed to condemn, if necessary, property for widening First
<br />street along the lines to be given him by the Joint Street Committee.
<br />
<br /> All of the above were concurred in; and the resolution to renew notes to amount of $67,600 was
<br />concurred in by the following vote:
