Nicholson, 8. <br /> Er, Walker not voting. <br /> <br />T, Montague, <br /> <br /> The President elect took. the chair and, in a few appropriate rem~rks~ thanked the body for <br />electing him to the position. <br /> <br /> On call of the 0h~ir for nominations for a Vice-president of the Board ~, Nontague s~id, thst <br />he supposed it w~s expected he wo~mld be a candidate for re-electio~ to the position, but because he had <br />enjoyed the honor for some years past, and for other reasons, he should have to decline a nomination <br />for Vice-president if he were nominated. <br /> <br /> Mr, Moore the~non~inated N~. W, Jones Williams for Vice-president, and, there being no <br />i~tions, ~Lv, ~illiams was elected by the Fotlom~l~g vote: <br /> <br /> O. P, Murray, L. O. To refer to a committee of seven, ine!uding the presidents of the two branches, three <br />to be appointed from the Oomm0n Council and two from the Bo~rd of Aldermen, to consider-- <br /> <br /> The advisability of amending section 60 of the ordinances so as to eliminate therefrom the re- <br />quirement tha~ warrants for payment of bills against the ~ity sh~ll be countersigned by. the presi- <br />dents of the two branches. <br /> <br />The ma~er of handling and disposing of bills against the 0ity, with recommendations thereon. <br /> <br /> The advisability of having all new ordinances or amended ordinances presented by the Ordinance <br />0ommittee to lie on the table until the following regular meetings of the two branches. <br /> <br /> The advisability of having all new business, except such as m~y be referred to committees, to <br />lie on the table antil the~ following regular meetings of the two branches; and all new business to <br />be submitted without discussion, <br /> <br />The mdvisability of ~spensmng with or of combining the following committees: <br /> To dispense wmth--~ne committees o~ Almshouse, Water, Police, 01aims~ Schools, Buildings. <br /> To oombine-~the committee on Almshouse v~h Public Property, Water with Sewe~ge, and Olaims <br /> <br /> The advisability of having committee reports presented to e~ch branch of the Oouncil as joint <br />reports and signed bY the chairma~ and vice~chair~n of same when so presented. Such reports to be <br />knom~n as "report of the i~iz~noe ~ommittee," ~repor% of the ~treet Oommittee," &c. <br /> <br /> That the special committee to whom the above matters may be referred be instructed to report <br />thereon at the next regular meetings of the t~vo branches in September. <br /> <br />On motions, the'three first recommendations embraced in the ~o~nt ~esolutmon were ~dopted, and <br /> <br /> <br />
