Board of Aldermen. <br /> Gentlemen:-- Your Light CoFmittee respectfully reports herein <br /> <br />concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Light Committee April 11, March 14, and pre- <br /> <br />viousl¥: <br /> <br />Referred by Common .council April ilth. <br /> <br /> A petition of the Retail Merchantsr Association and the Central~Improvement Association that the <br />City take over, and.pay for rent of- the lights established by said Assoeiation~-on H!Eh~streeto <br /> It is recommended that beginning January 1, 1912 the 22 "flaming are lights" on lower High <br />street, aud 21 of the same lights on upper High aud Effingham streets, be taken in charge by the City <br />and be provided for in the "budget" for 1912. <br /> <br /> & light at theinterseetion of the H~to~-'Plaoe and Dinwiddie street, and one at the intersec- <br />tion of the Hampton Place and Washington S~eet. <br /> ~t is recommended that a light be placed at the intersection of the Hamp_~on Place and Wash- <br />ington street. <br /> Referred by 0ommon 0o~neil March 14th. <br /> <br />A light ~t the corner of *~een ~nd B~rt streets. <br /> It is recommended that a light be so ptaoed. <br /> <br />report progress as to the other m~tters referred. <br /> <br />(Signed). <br /> <br />0hairman B. of A. <br /> <br /> On motion, the~neport of the Committee was adopted, and its recommendation that the Oity pay for <br />the "flaming are lights" on High and Effinghmm s~reets was referred to the Joint Finance and Light <br />Committees. <br /> <br />Po!ice-- <br /> <br />Hon. Board of Aldermen. <br /> <br />Gentlemen:-- Your Police <br /> <br />Committee <br /> <br />respectfully reports herein <br /> <br />concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Police Committee May 9, April 11 and N~reh 14, <br /> <br />1911: <br /> <br />Referred by Common 0ouneil April llth. <br /> <br /> An application of the Bo~rd of Police 0ommissioners for an addition <br />~or~e. <br /> It is recommended that the application be granted. <br /> <br />of four me~ tO the Police <br /> <br />Referred by two branches March 14-21~t~ <br /> <br />Authorized to advertise for bids for furnishing the City' with a patrol wagon. <br /> We report that we have so mdvertised and have received the following bids therefor: <br /> t~om E. Parke Lindsay, Portsmouth, for $394.00. <br /> " Reeh-Marbaker Co., Philadelphia, " ~00.00. <br /> <br /> Because E. Parke Lindsay is the lower_bidder for the wagon, we recommend that award for same be <br />made to him. <br /> <br /> And further as the bid of E. Parke Lindsay is $94.00 more than was allowed in the ,budget" for <br />1911 for a patmol wagon, it is recommended that an additional appropriation of $94.00 be mmde for the <br /> <br /> (Signed).
