In accordance with the petition of the Police Force for ~n increase ofl'salari~s; ln whieh petition they stated that they wo~ld not m~ke application for sick pay-if thei~ salaries were in- creased (.and they were increased), it is recommended that the petition of Capt. Only be not granted. Previously referred. An application of the late Treasurer, Geo. A. Tabb, to be paid Tot services rendered by him to the City, subsequent to his term as Treasurer, and also to be relieved from payment of a check for $50.00, given him by C. L. Gilbert for a cemetery let, which said cheek was made on the People's Bank and was held by Mr. Tabb at the time of failure of said Bank. It is recommended that Mr. Tabb be not paid for the services which he claims to have ~en- dered, but that the cheek of C. L. Gilbert, now in possession of the ClerK, be turned over to Mr. Tabb. A bill of 0. L. Williams, for $64.25, paid by him for lmying a sewer main on the Middle street. It is recommended that the said bill be paid to 0. L. Williams. south e~d of B~s of E. P. Lindsay ~nd F. J. McGuire For doing work on streets in the Sixth Ward. It is recommended that said bonds be accepted. The 0ity Collector appeared before the Committee and. stated that, owing to the late re-assess- ment of real estate in the City, he would not be able to hmve his book prepared for receipt-of City taxes by October 1st, and he requested that his time Be extended for the reception of taxes 'until October llth; end also that he be allowed mn assistant, at a pay of $100.00 per month, for such work, for one<month beginning September llth.- It is recommended that the request of the Treasurer be gra~ted. Alexander, was sent back to the Finance Committee for reconsideration. A request of sund. z~y physicians and directors of the Kings Daughters' Hospital to h~ve paved the roadway of Emmettt street, between Green and Chestnut. Progress. 0ondition of drain pipes at the Washington and Dinwiddie street bridges. The City Engineer reports these pipes to 1be-in good condition. -Referred b~ Board of Aldermen A~gust 15th. (With City Attorney). To lock into the City's rights on First street in connection with the S. A. L. Railway tracks there. Progress. To consider the advisability of putting some permanent filling at the south end of Dinwiddie street, grating at the corner of Court and North, and curbing on London street. The filling at the south end of Dinwiddie street is being done as fast as practicable; the Street Inspector h~s been instructed to attend to the grating at the corner of Court and North sts.; and we report progress as to the curbing on London street. Advisability of pavingthe middls of the street and sidewalks of Amn street, between Cooke and Butler. We have referred this m~tter to the 0ity Engineer to obtain an estimate of costs for the work. Paving of the Boulevard, between Court end Dinwiddie streets. It is desirable to pave the Boulevard, %ut as we are aw~e that funds the work, we mmke no recommendation for the paving at this time. are not available for The paving of Fifth street, betWee~ Fmyette end JeFTerson.
