October 17, 1911. A request of the Keeper of the Cemeteries for an increase of salary for himself and his two assistants, was referred to the Finance and Cemetery Committees. for The City Sergeant applied for an appropriation of $3B0.00 for general repairs to the Jail, authority to advertise for bids to purchase lC0 mattresses and 75 blankets fo~ the Jail. On motion, the application was referred to the Public Property Committee. and The Chairman of the Firs C~mmit~es~ sta~ed that his Committee was in need of money, and he as- ked for an appropriation of $~00.00 to run the Fire Department until January 1, 1912. He also asked for authority to use $126oO0, of the money on. hand from the s~Ie of old horses, to purchase a li£e-savimg net for the Department. The Chairman of the Auditing Committee called attention to the fact that there were a number of bills against the City, which he believed to be just and ought to be paid, but had not been au- dited by the Committee, because they had not been approved by their respective Chairmen; and he moved that said bills be referred to the Finance Committee f0= ~Xamination and report thereon. That Mr. Narkham presented the following resolution for changing the name of Fourth street to Court: WHEREAS, Court street and Fourth street are practically one street, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL~D, by the Board of Aldermen (the Common Council concurring), the name of Fourth street, in the Fourth Ward, be changed to Court street. On motion, the resolution was referred to the Street Committee. The President announced the appointment of C. N. Markham to Almshouse, Water, and Police Com- mittees, in place of W. E. Calvert, resi~ed.
