425 <br /> <br />July 12, 1994 <br /> <br /> - NEW BUSINESs - <br /> <br /> 94-280 - Mr. Clemons offered the following nominations for <br /> appointments to the following Boards and Commissions: <br /> <br />parks and Recreation Comm~ssio,, <br /> <br />Randolph Sykes, Jr. to be appointed to an unexpired term ending <br />July 1, 1995, replacing Ray A. Smith. Sr. <br /> <br />~amDton Roads cha_mber of Commerce Task Forc- <br /> <br />James T. Martin to be appointed to replace John H. Epperson as <br />an alternate member. <br /> <br /> Tidewater Transportation District C~==Lissi¢,,, <br /> <br /> Cameron C. Pitts and J. Robert Gray were nominated <br /> vacancy, and by a vote of 5-2 (Clemons, <br /> was appointed to replace Lee E. King. <br /> <br /> Transportation Safety Commissi,,,, <br /> <br /> Cameron C. Pitts to be appointed to fill an Unexpired term <br /> ending November 1, 1995, replacing Lee E. King. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to close <br />the nominations, and there being no further nominations, the <br />above were approved by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />94-281 Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />Councilman Hawks requested that Dr. Lamm and Dr. Whitworth <br />attend a Public Work Session to discuss Tidewa=er Community <br />College. <br /> <br /> for the <br />Griffin), j. Roberu Gray <br /> <br />Councilman Pitts requested that the City Manager investigate the <br />possibility/feasibility of a Ferris wheel and water fountain for <br />the Portsmouth Waterfront. <br /> <br /> Councilman Martin requested information on what the City is <br /> doing to attract people from other cities to Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> 94-282 - Receipt of Other Communications <br /> <br />There were no other couununications. <br /> <br />94-283 - Continued Non-Agenda Speakers (If necessary) <br /> <br />There were no other speakers. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to go <br />into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 <br />of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion or consideration of a personnel matter <br />znvolving the City Manager's staff, as permitted under <br />Subsection (A) (1); <br /> <br /> (2) Discussion or consideration of the acquisition of real <br />property for public use in the downtown portions of the City, <br />and the disposition and use of publicly held real property in <br />the downtown portion of the City, as permitted under Subsection <br />(A) (3). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> <br />
