Board of Aldermen.
Gentlemen:-- Your Ferry Committee respectfully reports here-

in concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Ferry Committee February ~0, 1912:
Referred by Board of Aldermen February 20th.

Advisability of purchasing the wharf property adjoining the ferry dock in Norfolk.
We report that we do not consider the time opportune for negotiations to purchase addition-
al ferry p~operty a~ this time.

To sell the Pearl street dodk in Berkiey and purchase suffi0ient water front adjoining the
Chestnut stree~ dock~ so that the boat going between Portsmouth and Berkley can use the dock at
Chestnut street.
In our_'opinion, the ferry lessees would not be able to maintain the schedule provided in
the lease, except they put on an additional boat, and travel at present does not warrant an addition-
al boat in the service. This matter can be taken up preceding the next lease of the ferries.

Advisability of purchasing a modern ferry boat.
We do not deem it advisable at the present

time to purchase a modern ferry boat.

(Signed). 0.
