Progress. <br /> <br />Referred by Common Council January llth. <br /> <br /> Advisability of paving Third street, between Harrison and Wythe~~ <br /> It is recommended that the east side of Third street, from Harrison to Wythe, be guttered <br />with new granite biook and curbed with new granite curb; and that the south side of Wythe street, <br />from east side of Court to east side of Third, be curbed and guttered. <br /> The total cost of this work will be 4707.10. <br /> <br />Referred by Common Council January 9th. <br /> <br /> Authorized to advertise for bids to pave Glasgow street, from Godwin to Scott Creek bridge. <br /> We report that we have so advertised, and have received ~he following bids therefor: <br /> From: <br /> F. J. McGuire, Tarvia Macadam at $1.50 per sq. yd., and Dollarway Pavement at Si.S? per <br /> sq. yd. <br /> Atlantic Bitulithic Co., Double Bond at 41.70 per eg. yd., and Bituiithio at SZ.0S per <br /> sq. yd. <br /> <br /> Believing t~at Bitulithic will give the best service, it is recom-~ended that award be made <br />to the Atlantic Bitulithic Company to pave said street, at a total cost of $1~,E65.00, including the <br />curbing, &c. <br /> (Signed). The motion was adopted. <br /> The action of the Common Council in recommitting the advisability of using the City steam roller <br />on Third street, between Lincoln~an~ Fayette, was concurred in. <br /> Then the report of the Committee, as amended, was adopted, the several recommended appro- <br />priations being referred to the Finance Committee. <br /> <br /> Public Property-- Hon. Board of Aldermen. <br /> Gentlemen:-- Your Public Property Committee respect- <br />fully reports herein concerning the following matters refe.~ed to the Joint Public Property Committee <br /> <br />May 14 and March lB, 19ir: <br /> Referred by Common Council ~ay 14th. <br /> <br /> To ascertain the cost and installation of a bell for the Seventh Ward engine house. <br /> We have heretofore reported on the bell. It will cost $185.00, and an appropriation for <br />same is now in the hands of the Finance Committee. The installation of the bell will require an ad- <br />ditional appropriation of SES0.O0, and such an appropriation is recommended. <br /> <br /> Authorized to obtain modified plans and specifications for Grimes Battery gun-room. <br /> We have ascertained that the size of Grimes Battery gun-room may be increased, &c., for <br />$7,500.00, and, in this connection, we submit'the following letter from Stroud & Rogue concerning ad- <br />dition to said building. (Letter to file). <br /> <br /> Authorized to cancel policies on the Sixth and Seventh Ward fire engines. <br /> We have directed the insurers of the engines to cancel the policies on same. <br /> <br /> Authorized to cut down an old sycamore tree on the east side of the court house yard. We will have the work done at the proper time. <br /> <br /> A communication from the Superintendent of The Ferries Company in regard to pa~ent of a bill <br />for $19.0~ for lighting the City offices in the'ferry building. <br /> We report that we are of the opinion that the City does not owe such bill, as The Ferries <br />Company were to furnish lights, janitor service, &¢., included in the price per month paid for rooms <br />in the ferry building. <br /> Referred by Common Council March 1Sth. <br /> <br /> <br />
