<br /> The regular reports of Officers for June were presented and were ordered to take the usual course~
<br />
<br /> At this point, ~r. Langhorne moved that ~he rules be suspended ~o hear ~om Mir. Parker~
<br />man of the Board of Water Commissioners. The motion was adopted.
<br /> ~r. Parker spok? and urged that the Board concur with the Common Council in its action concern-
<br />ing the recommended ~ssue of ~800,000.00 of bonds to establish water works~ &c.
<br /> Whereupon, on motion of Mr. Williams~ the Fin~ce Co,mitre? was instructed to prepare and
<br />bring in an ordinance for the issue of sa%d bonds, andby the xoliow~ng vote:

<br /> The section relating to payment of water hydrants in the Sixth and Seventh ~ards, which was pass-
<br />ed by temporarily, was now taken up, and Mr. Moore moved that the recommendation of the Finance Com-
<br />mittee thereon be adopted.
<br /> Mr. Montague moved to am. end that this body concur withthe Common Co'until in the matter of ap-
<br />pointing a Board of Arbitrators, that is to say~ "That the Presidents of the two branches of~Oouncil
<br />be authorized to appoint one citizen, the Sixth and Seventh Wards one, and these two to appoint a
<br />third, for composing a Board of Arbitrators, to settle the disputed question as to who should pay
<br />for water hydrants in the Sixth a~d Seventh ~ards, and to allow the decision of these arbitrators to
<br />be final."
<br /> The amendment was adopted~ and by the following vote:

<br /> The Oath of Office of S. T. Montague as a member of this body from the Fourth Ward was presented
<br />and was ordered to file.
<br /> NEW BUSINESS.
<br />
<br /> A communication was received from the lessee of The Ferries in which he a~=ted that ~equest of
<br />the Board for improvement of leaky condition of ferryboats and dirty windows of same had been refer~
<br />red to the Supe~intendmmt of The Ferries, and said communication was ordered to file.
<br />
<br /> A commumication was read from the Inspector~of P..l~mbing~ in which h~ made report of his attend-
<br />anco at the Convention of Plumbing Inspectors and Sanitar~Engineers~held in St. Louis: Mo~, June ~-
<br />5-6th.
<br /> He said that, as a result of the information gained at this meeting, he would request to have
<br />referred to the Committee on Sewerage the advisability of changing the Plumbing Regulations so as to
<br />have them conform to the "standard.~
<br /> The request of the Plumbing Inspector was referred to the Sewerage Committee, and the com-
<br />munication was ordered to file.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Eontague offered the following resolution:
<br /> ~esotved, That a Committee of Five, three from
<br />the Common Gouncil and two from the BOard of Aldermen, be, and the same are hereby appointed, .for the
<br />nuroose of investi~atin~ the present ferry facilities from a territorial standpoint, andreport as to
<br />%he-contemplated r~quir~ments, with a view of purchasing additional waterfront ~here needed, to meet
<br />increased traffic.
<br /> "Be it further resolved that the Clerk be instructed to advise the Norfolk County Board of Su-
<br />pervisors of the passage of this resolution, with the request that a Committee of that Board be ap-
<br />pointed to act with the City Committee in this
<br /> On motion, the resolution was amended so as ~o refer same to the Ferry Committee.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Langhorne offered the following resolution:~
<br /> "Resolved, That a Committee of three, two from
<br />the Common Council and one from the Board of Aldermen~ be, and the same are hereby appointed, for the
<br />purpose of investigating the present method of rendering, approving.and paying City bills, and report
<br />to the Councils its recommendation regarding same."
<br /> On motion, the resolution was amended so as to refer same to the Auditing Committee.
