<br /> Gentlemen:-- "I am enclosing a letter from the Superintendent of'the Portsmouth,.
<br />Berkley & Suffolk Water Co., along with a copy of a letter from the City Engineer for your considera-
<br />ti°n'zIn a former correspondence Mr. Davis made claim to an approximate amount of $900.00~for water
<br />used by the flush tanks in the Old part of the City for excess of water in flushing the tanks. This
<br />claim was sent to the Sewerage Committee.
<br /> "He again refers to this matter and a~ks the installation of regulators on each flush tauk of
<br />the old part of the City. At this time I will not pass upon the justness or reasonableness of the
<br />~equest. We have a right to all water that is necessary, no more or less.

<br /> To authorize the Treasurer to borrow $S0,000.00 for-general City expenses and $10,000.00 for
<br /> School Purposes ~or February, 191~, out of Bond funds now in Bank.
<br /> To auth6rize the Treasurer to renew notes for $96,000.00, falling due in March, l~13.
<br /> To pay Coroner and Jurybills to amount of $13E.50~ for inquests held during the months of Oc-
<br /> tober, November and December, 191E, and January, 1913.
<br /> To allow $15,000.00 to the Board of Water Commissioners, out of the "budget" for 191~.
<br /> To i~st~ct the City Attorney to proceed to take such action as may be necessary to compel the
<br /> Virginia Railway & Power Company to reconstruct its.tracks on First street.
<br /> An O~dinance to Acquire by Condemmation~Oertai~ P~operty Situated in Norfolk County, Virginia~
<br /> of which M. E. G0etzinger is TeDant of the Freehold, which is Wanted by the City of Portsmouth for a

<br /> Fourth. Reports of Officers and other unfinished business.

<br /> The regular reports of. Officers for the month of February, 191~, were presented and wsre order-
<br /> ed to take the usual course.

<br />N~W BUSINESS.
<br />
<br /> A communication was read from the Seventh Ward Board,~ endorsed by members of the Common Council
<br />from the ~eventh Ward, recommending Henry Pile to be elected to fill a vaeaney~on theBoard of Alder-
<br />men, caused by the death of Lo O. Nicholeon.
<br /> Petitions were presented from sundry citizens of the Seventh Ward, endorsing H. J. Naddre~ for
<br />the position.
<br /> N~. Privett moved that the body go into election to fill the vacancy. The motion was adopted.
<br /> Whereupon, Mr. Langhorne 'nominated Henry Pile for the position, and~iv. Markham nominated H. J.
<br />Naddrey.
<br /> A vote being taken, N~v. Pile was elected by the following vo~e:

<br /> A communication was received from the Seventh Ward Board, in which it was requested that a bill
<br />fo= $719.64 due E. B. Powell for ~ertain gutter castings be deducted from funds allotted for tempora-
<br />ry street repairs in the "budget" for 1915.
<br /> On motion~ the matter was referred to Finance Oommittee.
<br /> A bill of the Clerk of Court to amount of $9.Z0, for writ tax on suit against She Virginia Pail-
<br />way & Power Company was referred to Finance Committee.
<br /> Mr. Williams moved to ~efer to Street Committee ~ne advisability of paving Cooke street in Park
<br />View, and of extending Cooke street to High. The motion was adopted.
