<br /> A request of the Chief ~of the Fire Department to canvass the City for sale of Fire Extinguishers
<br /> We have looked into the request and recommend that it be granted.

<br /> Mr. Davis moved to adopt the report of the Committee.
<br /> ~r. Langhorne noted that the Chief of the Fire Department was present and he moved that the
<br /> ~les be suspended to hear from him in regard to the recommended awards for fire hose.
<br /> Mr. Markham objected, saying that the Chief had been heard before the Committee and the Commit-
<br /> tee had decided, notwithstanding his objections~ to make the recommendation contained in the report.
<br /> Several expressions were heard that the Chief be al2owed to speak.
<br /> Mr. Markham then withdrew his objections to hearing the Chief and he spoke on the subject, giv-
<br />ing some reasons for objecting to the recommendation of the Committee, and he presented several com-
<br />munications from Chiefs of Fire Departments of sundry places sustaining his objections.
<br /> A lengthy discussion ensued, when on motion of Mr. Moore, the recommendation as to fire.hose,
<br />together with all bids~ wac sent back to the Committee..
