July 15, 1913. <br /> <br /> On motion, the bills were referred to Finance Committee. <br /> <br /> A bill of W. T. Anderson Go amount of $84.50, for entertaining the Naval Committee, was <br />red to the Finance Committee. <br /> <br />refer- <br /> <br /> Mr. Montague stated that he had appeared before the Board of Harbor Commissioners as Vice-Ohai~ <br /> mancouncilOf therequestStreetsaid,Committee,BoardtorelatiVeabandon tOsame.the port warden line in Gander Creek, and he moved that the <br /> The motion Was adopted. <br /> <br /> Mr. Montague stated also that~ the Board of Harbor Commissioners had told him, unless the City <br /> repairs the foot bridge at the east end of High ~treet, it would have to close said bridge for traf- <br /> fic; and therefore he moved an~appropriation of $100,00 to repair the bridge. <br /> On motion, the proposition was referred to Finance and Street committees Jointly. <br /> <br /> Mr. Markham presented a petition from L. C. Brinson and sundry others for the extension of Sixth <br /> street to Washington, and the petition was referred to the Street Committee, <br /> <br /> Mr. Ms_rkham moved to refer to Finance Committee for a special appropriation of $S1~§0 due the <br /> Virginia Railway & Power Company for 191S~ as reported by the Auditor. <br /> The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Montague~ the advisability of sewering Virginia street, from Henry to Randolph, <br /> was refer~ed to the Sewerage Committee. <br /> <br />Mr. Privett moved to refer to Finance Committee for an appropriation of SBO. O0, out of money <br />available~. . ~.f°r repairs to City Market~ to enable the Public Property Committee to obtain nl~a and <br />specifications for same. The motion was adopted, - <br /> <br /> Mr. ~illiams presented a paper which he proposed to have embodied in an ordinance, authorizing <br /> the Chief of the Fire Department to enter buildings and premises for the purpose of ascertaining if <br /> they contain material liable~to fire. <br /> The paper was ordered to lie on the table. <br /> <br /> ~ Nr. Williams moved to refer to Street Committee to consider the cleaning up of weeds on streets <br />in ~ark View and West Park View. The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> Mr. Davis moved to refer to Finance Committee to make available $$0.00 allowed in the Budget for <br />repairs to cemetery fences. The motion wa~ adopted. <br /> <br /> By the same, to refer to Street Committee the question of removal from High street, between <br />Ohestnut and. Pearl, tracks of the Seaboard Air Line Railway Co., and if possible, to do away with a <br />third track in that section of new paving, he motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> Mr. Narkham moved that the President of the Seaboard Air Line Railway be requested to have re- <br />moved its unsightly sentry box at the crossing of the track on Court street. <br /> The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> On motion of~ Williams, ~he Street Committee was requested to endeavor to obtain street car <br />service for Wee~Park View. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Williams, the Street Committee was requested to consider the advisability of <br />putting a foot bridge at tn~ foot of Leckie street to connect with West Park View~ and also to con~ <br />sider again the condition of West Park View Bridge. <br /> <br /> Mr. Davis moved that the Council Committee on the Seaboard Air Line offices be requested to re- <br />port at the earliest possible time the result of its efforts in endeavoring to obtain said offices <br />for this City.. The motion was adoptedj <br /> <br /> Mr. Langhorne moved that the Finance Committee make available $i00.00~ out of appropriation of <br />$3,000.00 for Seaboard Market House, in order to employ the services of an architect on same. <br /> The motion was adopted. <br /> <br />On motion, adJourned.~ <br /> <br /> <br />
