<br /> The report of the Special Committee on Redistricting the City, ordered to lie on the t~ble by
<br />this body September 16th, was presented by the Clerk.
<br /> When M~. Davis moved to concur with the Common Council in referring the recommendations
<br /> to the Ordinance Committee, with proviso that the third and fourth sections of same are struck out.
<br /> After some discussion, the report was adopted, as amended, and by the following vote:

<br /> The following opinion was read from the City Attorney in regard to whether the proposed
<br /> for changing the districts of the City.would affect the legal status of the Sixth and Seventh Wards
<br /> in relation to the City proper, which opinion was requested by the Board on September 16th:

<br /> "Gentlemen:--
<br /> "R~piying to your request that I render my opinion ~as to whether the proposed
<br />plan for changing the districts of the City would affect the legal status of the Sixth and Seventh
<br />Wards in relation to the City proper," I beg to say:
<br /> "As the proposed ordinance in relation thereto does not change in any way the territorial limits
<br />of the said Wards their legal status will in no way be affected, but will remain the same.
<br />

<br /> The application of the Virginia Railway & Power Company to extend an underground conduit from
<br />Hunter's Lane to Dinw~ddie street, ordered to lie on the table by this body September BYrd, was taken
<br />up~ and the information ~equssted of said Company was read.
<br /> Mr. Davis moved that action on same be deferred. ~tv. Pile moved as a substitute therefor, that
<br />the Board concur with the Common Council in the matter, that is to say, that permission be granted
<br />as requested.
<br /> The substitute was adopted ~ud by the following vote:

<br /> A bill of B. F. Long to amount of ~69.00, for services in connection with dog notices, &c., was
<br />referred to the Finance Committee.

<br /> The Chief of the Fire Department returned his thanks for the appropriation sending him to New
<br />York to attend the International Association of Fire Chiefe September 1-6th, 1913.
<br /> On motion, the paper was ordered to file.

<br /> A petition of the Amalgamated Business and Labor Organizations
<br />appropriation of $1,OO0.00 to be used for a camp~igh in interest of
<br />at the Navy Yard in this City, was referred to Finance Committee.
