NovemBer 14, 1911. Mr~ Cooke asked that the floor of the~engine~house, in the Seventh Ward, be lowered, and on motion the request was referred to the Public Property Committee. Mr. Baker moved that t~he Ordinance Committee consider the advisability of an~ordinancs to require that fruits and vegetables, ~xpoeed on the streets, be properly screened from dust and flies. The motion ~as .adopted. The Chairman of the Finance Committee moved that the Clerk be i~structed to Write to~the Chairmen and Vise-Chairmen of the committees and request-that they report for the ~budget.~ ~The motion was adopted. And on motions, the following matters were referred to-~ Finance Committee-- A request of the commissioner of the Revenue to have refunded to Lucy E. Robinson s~nd W. E. Smiph ~l.B~ each, smd to Annie Luise Hinton SB.~O, paid in erro~ for night soil t~x~ and to Chas. Owens $8.85:paid by him in exo~s~ 6n Tangible and Intangible Personal Property. Bond of R. P. Denby for doing work on certain streets in the Seventh Ward. A reques~ of the Wise Cigar Ne~s Company and others to have refunded them the amount paid for license tax on slot machine~o An application of the Physician to the Poor for an increase of salary ~o $1,000.00 per year. A request of the Secretary and Treasurer of the League of Virginia Nunicipalities for a subscription of $1.00 Tor~each Councilman for maintenance of said League for the coming year.
