R. C. P. December 1~, 1911. the said re-assessment, and on motion the recommendation of the Finance Committee in regard to said matter was sent Back'to the Committee for further consideration. Whereupon, Mr. Hall moved that the City Attorney be instructed ko render, in writing, his opinion as to the legal right of the City to give more than $°50 per day each to the late assessors of real estate, and to pay the Clerk of the Corporation Court-$$00.00~and the Sheriff $150.00 for their services in said assessment. The motion was adopted. And on motions, the following other matters were referred to-- Finance Committee-- A re- quest of J.'Davis Reed to be relieved from paymen~ of taxes on property at the corner of Elm avenue and Henry streets for the year 1911. A request of the Seventh Ward Board that the City petition the General Assembly to autho- rize the issue of $10,000~00 additional bonds for Street Inr£rovements in said Ward. A petition~of W. G. Mihton to Be paid $2.50 which was erroneously assessed for night soil tax OA his wife's p~bperty No. 741 Riverview avenue. A petition of A. M. Jacobson to be re-imbursed to amoun~ of $5.67, because of over-assess- ment on his personal property.for 1911. A petition of C. E. Knox to be re-imbursed to amount of $t. E5, because of night soil tax erroneously paid by him for the year 1911. A request of theBoard of Health for an appropriation of $720.00 per year for an assistant to the Sanitary Inspector. A petition of Mrs. Lulie O. Banks to have refunded her $10.E4 erroneously assessed against her. A petition of Mrs. Gustave E. Naschke to have refunded her $11.50 erroneously assessed a- gainst her. A reques~ of the Sixth Ward Board for an additional bond issue of $80,000.00 for Street Improvements in said Ward. Advisabilityof issuing $1~0,000.00 of additional bonds for Street Paving for the City pro- pst. Street Committee-- A request of the Tidewater Knitting Mills for pavement of Chestnut street, from South ~o Duke.. A request of the Seventh Ward Board that the City join i~ in exp~=nse of improving Jeffer- son street, from Fourth'to'SeVenth. A request of the B. M. A. for an appropriation of $t00.00 to put in serviceable condition the dock at the foot of High street. (With Sixth and Seventh Ward ~ocal Boards). A communication from the Seventh Ward in re- gard to the bad condition of Pearl street, Between County and the South street road. Public Pr~oerty Committee-- A communication from ~he Mayor, accompanied bY a communication from Grimes Battery, in regard to providing additional armory and.storage facilities for said Battery. A request of J. L. Thomas, Captai~ Signal Corps of Virginia Volunteers, t, be furnished with a room in the new arrangement of City offices. Fire Committee-- A petition from sundry residents of the Faurth Ward in regard lng an engine house on a lot owned by the City in the Fourth Ward, and equipping the fire purposes. to build- same for on .-Sewerage Committee-- A petition of C. E. Knox to be paid $~.50 because of expense incurred his sewer pipe, by reason ~f the stoppage of the City Sewer Nain. The AUditor asked fc~ authority to pay off City employees for Dece~er in January, !9t~, and on motion, the request was granted. On motion, adjourned.
