Advisability-of a b~ilding code and of having Chief of the Fire Department act as a Build- ing Inspector. Progress. Advisability of emplo~ing a reasonable number of "call men~ for the Fire Department. We think it advisable to have a reasonable number of "call men~ for the Fire Depar~- merit, but are not at this time prepared to make recommendation as to numbe~ of the same. To require the present paid men of the Fire Department to assist the Chief in examining all yards and the surroundings of buildings in the fire district. It is reco~nended that this matter be referred to the Chief of the Fire Department for his advice as to same. Advisability of having the paid men of the Fire Department uniformed. Progress. (With Ordinance Committee). To prepare a set of rules for government of the Fire Depart- ment. We report that there are rules and regulations now existing in pamphlet form for govern- ment of the Fire Department, and if other rules are needed the Chief of the Department should suggest them. Advisability of ar. ordinance to give anyone the privilege of tunnelling under the side- waiks, from the building line to the curb tine of the street. We report that we do not think such an ordinance necessary at present. Advisability of amending or revising the ordinance relating to duties of the Wood Measurer. Progress as to same. Referred by Board of Aldermen February ZOth. (With Fire Committee). To prepare a set of rules for government of the Fire Department. We are of the opinion that ~rules governing the Fire Department aZ this ~iDe are, in the main, sufficient, but would recommend that, if the Fire Committee can specify any other needed rules, they call the attention of this Conmittee to them. Advisability of ~ ' ~ p~t~ns the ~Gleason System" into effect. We report that the "Gleason System" has already been adopted by ordinance. An ordinance to regulate the sale of pistols, and to prohibit the sale of fire works, dy- namite sticks, &c. Progress. Advisability of an ordinance regulating moving picture shows. It is recommended that the following ordinance be adopted ~herefor: AN ORDINANCE FOR T~ INSPECTION AND REGULATION OF MOVING PIC~gRE SHOWS, VAUDEVILLE AND OTHER STAGE PER~0i~ANCES. Referred by Common Council January 9th. A conm.~unication from the Mayor in regard to failure of Ferries Company to maintain its schedules. Progress. Advisability of amending the ordinance regulating the pay of policemen, so that all po- licemen shall receive $~.50 for each day of their service on the Police Force after 1~ months' ~ervice.
