Beisei, <br /> <br /> The Joint Finance Committee presented, the License Tax Ordinance, which was the same as the <br />"Ordinance" for 1911-13, .with the following amend~.~en~s thersto~ viz: <br /> <br /> Section i, Par. 1, to read-- "Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br />ginia, that for the year beginning May l, 1913, ~nd thereafter until annulled by ordinance, the <br />following occupations, acts and business transactions sh~ll be deemed privileges and shall not <br />be pursued or done within the limits of said city of'Portsmouth, without payment of a license <br />tax therefor, and the license tax thereon shall be annually as follows:" <br /> <br /> Section 18, to read-- "P~ddtsrs of market produce, fresh meats or fish, and venders of <br />fruits~ .nuts, confectioneries, tea, coffee, sold on the streets or in other public places, $~0 <br /> d" <br />for each tray~basket, cs-rt, dray, wagon, wheelbarrow, pushcart or other vehicle use . <br /> <br /> Section 17, to read~ "Any pe~son, firm or corporation engaged in selling from wagons or <br />carts kerosene, gasgline, or other illuminating oils by wholesale, or both wholesale and retail~ <br />shall pay a tax on $75 on each wagon or cart so used." <br /> <br />Section 58~ to read-- "On each toll bridge or foot ferry, $50.'~ <br /> <br /> Section S?. to read-- "On every theatre~or places where theatrical performances are usual- <br />ly held, $300~ SS per day, $i0 per week, or $30 per month.~ <br /> <br /> ' Section 9E, to read-- "On each biltiard~ pool.or bagatelle tab!e~ $~0, a~d an additional <br />tax of $15 On each table in excess of one.
