It wil-1 cost ~!85.00, and an appropriation <br />for same is now in the hands of the Finance Committee. The installation of the belt will require <br />an additional appropriation of $~$0.00, and such an appropriation is recommended. <br /> <br />Authorized To obtain modified plans and specifications for Grimes Battery ~gun-room. <br />We have ascertained that the size of Grimes Battery gun-room may be increased, <br />for $?,500'.00, and, in this connection~ we subinit the following letter from Stroud & Roane.con- <br />cerning addition to said building. (Letter to file). ' <br /> <br />Authorized to cancel policies on the Sixth and Seventh Ward fire engines. <br /> We have directed the insurers of the engines ~o cancel the polieies on same. <br /> <br />Authorized to cut down an old sycamore tree on the ea~t side of the court house yard. <br /> We will have the work done at the proper time~ <br /> <br /> A communication from the Superintendent of The Ferries Company in regard to payment of a <br />bill for $19.00, for lighting the City offices in the ferry building. <br /> We report that we are of the opinion that the City does not owe such bill, as The Fer- <br />ries Company were to furnish lights~ janitor service, &c.~ included in the price per month paid <br />for rooms in the ferry building. <br /> <br />Referred by Co~mmon Council March 1Sth. <br /> <br /> A petition of the Hook and Ladder fire company to have the interior of their truck house <br />painted, and partitions in the rear of same taken down. Wagon-man. <br /> <br />Referred by Board of Aides-men May Bist. <br /> <br /> Requested to consider more seriously the use of glass fronts infire-ala~m boxes. <br /> The Committee are not fully satisfied of the necessity for glass fronts in fire-alarm <br />boxes, but as there seems to be ~u insistant ~ressure for same, we recommend that glass fronts <br />be put in alt fire-alarm boxes, at a cost of $8~.00~ and that the Ordinance Committee be instruc~ <br />ed to prepare an ordinance to prohibit the giving of f&lse alarms of fire in any manner, and to <br />provide a heavy penalty for violations of the ordinance. <br /> <br /> A report from the Hook and Ladder fire company of paid men elected for the current yea~ <br /> It is recommended that the following paid men elected by s~id company be confirmed: <br /> <br /> Digg <br /> M.F. s .... - ......................
