On motion of Mr. Pa=kef, the matter of appropriation was referred to the Finance Committee, and the Public Property Committee was instructed to go ahead with the work pending said appro- priation. Mr. Parker moved that the fire hose of the Union and Annex fire c.ompanys be tested to certain if it is in serviceable condition; if not, to have it replaced by hose~that will stand the pressure. On m~tion, said matter was referred to the Chief of the Fire Department to make such test. By the same~ that~the City Attorney be instructed to bring a friefidly suit against_ the Vir- ginia Railway & Power Company for $7,030.53, as its proportion of cost for grading and lowering tracks in the Sixth Ward. The motion wa~ adopted. . By Mr. Dewson, that the Fire Committee be authorized to dispose~ o! a b~lky horse at the Annex fire engine house. On motion, the authority was granted, Hall, Parrish, Hanvey, Dewson, Moore, Hutchins, Baker, 1S. and by the following vote: Ayes--uarbztt, Johnson, Heath, Brinson, Tyler, Hawks, On motion of Mr. Dewson,'the following appropriations were referred to Finance Committee: $8.50 to ~ay bill of R. Burroughs & Co.,~ o£ ~orfolk, for repairing pipe connection on chemical wagon at the Independent engine house. $50.00 for purchase of'aside and soda for the Fire Department for the winter. 64.?5 to pay bill of The Knott Fire Engine Gompany for a suction sleeve at the Independent engine house. Nr. Tyler moved that the~ City Engineer be instructed %o install the sewerage system dolph street, between Second and Third, out of appropriation already allowed for same.
