4.55 Auqust 23, 1994 94-339 Public Hearing for the consideration of a resolution a-mending the Articles of Incorporation of The Sports Authority of Hampton Roads, VA to change the principal office of the Authority and to modify the purposes of the Authority. There were no speakers in support of or in opposition to the above items. - CITY MANAGER'S REPORT 94-340 - Letter from the City Manager recommending the adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $175,000 from the Capital Improvements Fund for structural repairs to the Edinburgh Square Parking Garage and a motion to award the contract to Virtexco Corporation. "Funds are identified in the 1993-94 Capital Improvement Plan for repairs to the Edinburgh Square Parking Garage on County Street. Bids were received on August 11, 1994 for the first phase of this project which includes replacement of the ramps to the upper parking decks. The bids were competitive and favorable with today's construction market (see Attachment No. 1). The total anticipated project costs are calculated as follows: Construction Contract (Virtexco Corporation) Contract Administration and Inspection Contingencies $159,980 $ 10,000 $ 5,020 TOTAL ANTICIPATED PROJECT COST $175,000 The Director of Public Works recommends award of the construction contract to Virtexco Corporation and an appropriation in the amount of $175,000 to complete this work. I concur with the Director of Public Works and, with your approval of this item, the balance in the Capital Improvements Fund will be $9,954,991." Motion by Mr. Hawks, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $175,000.00 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE FIRST PHASE OF STRUCTURAL REPAIRS TO THE EDINBURGH SQUARE PARKING GARAGE." Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb Nays: None Motion by Mr. Hawks, and seconded by Mr. Pitts to award the contract to Virtexco Corporation, and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb Nays: None 94-341 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $145,000 from the Capital Improvements Fund to cover the increased cost of the proposed atrium for the Children's Museum and adoption of a motion to exceed the 25% allowable limit for change orders with Co=~onwealth Construction Company.
