L. Walker as a member of this body from the Fourth Ward, was pre- <br />sented and ordered to file. <br /> <br /> The-Joint Finance Gommittee presented the following resolution, which it recommended for <br />adoption: <br /> Whereas, the Councils have not adopted a bond form nor fixed the denominations for <br /> <br />the $~75,000.D0 of bonds authorized to be issued by an ordinance approved June ~6, 191~, and <br />an adoption of such resolution and fixing of the denominations of said bonds has been requested <br />by the purchasers of s~e, Messrs. Mayer, Deppe & Walter and Weil, Roth & Co., of Cincinnati, <br /> <br />Ohio-- <br /> Section 1~ Be it resolved by the council of the city of Portsmouth, Virginia, that <br /> <br />the $100,000. Pdrtsmouth Paving and Street Improvement bonds authorized by an ordinance approv- <br />ed-B6th June 1912 be issued in denominations of $1,000 each and that the $87,500. Sixth Ward <br />Improvement bonds and the $87,500. Seventh Ward Improvement bonds authorized by the said ordi- <br />nance be issued in denominations of $500 each and that the said Portsmouth Paving and Street <br />Improvem~n~ bonds be issued in the following form and that the said other bonds be issued i~ <br /> <br />similar form with appropriate changes as to denomination and title. The said form shall be <br /> <br />substantially as fellows, to-wit: <br /> <br />City of Portsmouth <br /> <br /> PavinE and Street Improvement Bond <br />No, <br /> $1,000. <br /> The 8ity of Portsmouth in the Commonwealth of Virginia for value received hereby promises <br />to pay to bearer the sum of One ~thousand dollars on the let day of October 19&2, with interest <br />at the rate of 4 1/E per cent per annu~, payable semi-annually to the bearer of the coupons <br />therefor hereto attached as they mature, both principa~.~nd interest being payable in gold coin <br /> <br />of the United States of the present standard of ~eight and fineness or its <br />Irving National Exchange Bank in New York, N. Y. <br /> <br /> This bond is issued by virtue and in pursuance of the Acts of 1910 c. <br /> <br />equivalent, at the <br /> <br />166 and the Acts of <br /> <br />191~ c. 177 and of an ordinance of the ~ity council duly passed and approved. And it is here- <br />by.certified that every requirement of the constitution end laws of Virginia relating to the <br />issue hereof has been ~uly complied with and that this bond is within every debt and other limit <br />prescribed by the said constitution or laws. <br /> <br /> In witness whereof the said city of Portsmouth has <br /> <br />president of each branch of its city council and by its <br /> <br />caused this bond to be signed by the <br />city treasurer and has caused its seal <br /> <br />to be hereto affixed attested by its city clerk and the coupons hereto attached to bear the fac- <br /> <br />simile ~igAature of its~ity treasurer as of the let day of October 1912. <br /> <br /> <br />
