C. the ordinance in regard to lead pipes was ordered to lie on Mr. Moore moved to suspend the rules in order to consider adoption now of the Police Jus- tice Ordinance. The motion was adopted. M~. Withy then moved to adopt~the~ordinance. Objections were raised to the ordinance in its present form. It was said that the~ordi- nanoe does not go-far enough; that some provision should be made as to when the Police Justice shoul~ leave the City or bs absent from his office. Mr. Hall moved to amend that the Ordinance Committee with the City Attorney, r~tire for a short while to consider the insertion of a clause regulating the time in which the Police Jus- tice may be absent from his office and fixing the manner in which his substitute should be paid. The amendment was lost on division~8 to 9. Then the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: . Mr. Moore next moved that a Joint Session of the two branches Of Council be held Tuesday~ November 26th, or as soon thereafter as practicabte~ for the election of a Police Justice. Common Council. Gentlemen:-- Y~uv Light Committee respectfully reports here- in concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Light Committee October 8-tS and Janu- ary 16, 1912: Referred by Common Council October 8th.~ Advisability of ins~alling a light in neighborhood of the boat house at Progress as to same. Swimming Point. Referred by Boar&'of Aldermen October 15th. Advisability of a light at the corner of London and Chestnut street. We recommended in our last report that a light be placed at this corner, but through r~que~t of a Councilman from the Third Ward, the report was changed so as to in,tail a light on corner of Queen and Chestnut. We do not think that we should at this time recommend two lights mn that ~iOinity~ We ar~ of the opinion that our previous report, recommending a light at Queen and Chestnut streets, will best serve the community, and,therefore, report that we are not prepared to recommend a light as requested. Advisability of placi~ng a light at Green and King streets.~ Progress. Advisability of a light at the corner of Third and Wythe st~e~ts.
