C. <br /> <br />the ordinance in regard to lead pipes was ordered to lie on <br /> <br /> Mr. Moore moved to suspend the rules in order to consider adoption now of the Police Jus- <br />tice Ordinance. The motion was adopted. <br /> M~. Withy then moved to adopt~the~ordinance. <br /> Objections were raised to the ordinance in its present form. It was said that the~ordi- <br />nanoe does not go-far enough; that some provision should be made as to when the Police Justice <br />shoul~ leave the City or bs absent from his office. <br /> Mr. Hall moved to amend that the Ordinance Committee with the City Attorney, r~tire for a <br />short while to consider the insertion of a clause regulating the time in which the Police Jus- <br />tice may be absent from his office and fixing the manner in which his substitute should be paid. <br /> The amendment was lost on division~8 to 9. <br /> Then the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> . Ayes~Corbitt~ Benson, <br /> Parrish~ Dewson, Moore~'~Baker,~Heath, Walker, ~ithy, Hawks~ Cooke, Saunders, 12. <br /> Nays-Hall, Hanvey, Johnson, Cross, Tyler, Hutchins~ Beisel, 7. <br /> <br /> Mr. Moore next moved that a Joint Session of the two branches Of Council be held Tuesday~ <br />November 26th, or as soon thereafter as practicabte~ for the election of a Police Justice. <br /> The motion w~s adopted. <br /> <br />Sewerage-- <br /> <br />Hon. C. <br /> <br /> On motion, the report of the Committee was adopted, the recommended appropriations to sewer <br />H~uter's and Eastwood's lanes being referred to Finance Committee. <br /> <br /> Lights-- Hon. Common Council. <br /> Gentlemen:-- Y~uv Light Committee respectfully reports here- <br /> <br />in concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Light Committee October 8-tS and Janu- <br /> <br />ary 16, 1912: <br /> <br />Referred by Common Council October 8th.~ <br /> <br />Advisability of ins~alling a light in neighborhood of the boat house at <br /> Progress as to same. <br /> <br />Swimming Point. <br /> <br />Referred by Boar&'of Aldermen October 15th. <br /> <br /> Advisability of a light at the corner of London and Chestnut street. <br /> We recommended in our last report that a light be placed at this corner, but through <br />r~que~t of a Councilman from the Third Ward, the report was changed so as to in,tail a light <br />on corner of Queen and Chestnut. We do not think that we should at this time recommend two <br />lights mn that ~iOinity~ We ar~ of the opinion that our previous report, recommending a light <br />at Queen and Chestnut streets, will best serve the community, and,therefore, report that we are <br />not prepared to recommend a light as requested. <br /> <br />Advisability of placi~ng a light at Green and King streets.~ Progress. <br /> <br /> Advisability of a light at the corner of Third and Wythe st~e~ts. <br /> We report that the Committee does not think a light is necessary at <br />being other places in the City much more in need of lights. <br /> <br />this point, there <br /> <br />Referred by Board of Aldermen January ~tb_ <br /> <br /> <br />
