In accordance with said instruction, we submit a map and other data descriptive of said tract. To make available money received by sale of Seventh Ward bonds. The foll~winE is a re~ort cone~rnin~ the acauisition of or~oertv necessary for City water works: "To the Honorable City Council: "The Joint Finance Committee bees lea~e to report that, Oursuant to a re~olution oassed by the Common Council, on the 10th day of December 19lB. and by the Board of Aldermen on the l?th day of December 19~, and approved by the ~avor on the t9th day of December 191E, directing the Joint Finance Committee to ascertain and report to the Council who are the owners of the propertiee mentioned in said resolution, and-at what prices~the same, or any oortion thereof, can be purchased, it instructed the City Attorney to obtain the information desired, as will a~Dear by a copy of the resolution oassed at a meeting of the Joint Finance Committee, held on the 19th day of December 19lB, whic~ resolution is made anart of this report. ~Your Committee re~or~s that the Richmond Cedar Works is the owner of ~he first paste'el of land mentioned in said resolution of the Council; that the John L. Roost Lu~ber Comoanv is the owner of the second oaroel of land; that Catv P. Weston is the owner of the third parcel of land; and that M. E. Goetz~nEer is the owner of the fourth oarcel of land. ~Your Committee has been in negotiation with all the parties mentioned above, and desires to reoort ~rogress as to Richmond Cedar Works, John L. RoDer Lumber'Company and Catv P~ weston. As to the Tourth oarcel of land mentioned i~.the-resolution of the Council, and owned by M~ ~. Goetzin~er, the Committee reoorts that the City Attorney wrote him a letter under date of Decem- ber ~0th,19~,1~COpy of which is filed herewith, to which letter M. E. Goetzinge~ replied, un-- der date of January 4th, ~1913, which letter is filed herewith, in which he states that he h~s no desire to sell any of the land mentioned to the City. "Your Committee therefore recommends that condemnation nroceedings be authorized against the said M. E. GoetzinEer to accuire the said land, RESOLUTION: ~. A petition of C. H. Jone~ to have reme~died faulty condition of gutter on the west side of the Independent engine h~se. Narch iZ-19th your Committee recommended an appropriation of $900,00 for a Eeneral overhauling of the Indenendent engine house; This 0~erh&ulihK would have included an imorove- merit in the condition complained of bv Er.~ J6nes,~but the Finance Committee have so far not m&de the recommended aporoDriation~and we are, therefore, without means to do this work.
