On suggestion of the Chair, it was ordered that the report be read as a ~hole, and then con-
sidered and passed on by sections.

In regard to the section recommending an appropriation of $5,000.00 to the King's Daughters
Hoepita~ building, Mr. Hutchins objected that the number of beds allowed therein for the City
was not en~Ggh and he thought at least ten b~ds should be allowed the City.
Mr. Tyler said moreover that the hospital ought ~o provide for street hands and other City
laboring force, free of cost,
At this juncture, the Chair suggested that further discussion of the matter be suspended
pending the coming of Mr. O. L. Williams, President of the Board of Directors, who could speak
for the King's Daughters Hospital. The suggestion was accepted and Mr. Williams sent for. He
appeared and the rules were su~ended to hear from him.
Mr. Williams stated that it was not the disposition of the Directors of the Hospital to
limit the City to five beds, but that ten, or twelve, or ~ourteen beds could be provided if ne-
cessary, and that the laboring force of the City would be provided for free.
Then the section referring to the hospital was~ on motion of Mr. Withy~ amended so as
to provide for ten City beds therein and to include the suggestion of Mr. Tyler in regard to the
hospital-providing for the City laboring for~e free of cost.

The section recommending an appropriation of $7,500.00
after some discussion, adopted.
