<br /> Gentlemen:-- Your Yerry Committee respectfully reports here-

<br />in concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Ferry Committee January 16-Bl, 1913,
<br />
<br />and December 10, 1912:
<br /> Referred by two branches January l$-Elst.
<br />
<br /> Authorized to negotiate With the owners of "N~wton's Wharf" relative to its purchase by
<br />Norfolk County and the City ~for. additional ferry facilities.
<br /> We have been considering this pronosition with owners of the Newton Wharf propertz~:
<br />and a counter pronosition'with agents for owners of the Campbell Wharf pronerty (lying between
<br />the ferry property and Roanoke dock), but have not as yet reached a basis for a recommendation
<br />as to such ~ronerty. We hone to be able to report on the same at next regular meetings of Coun-
<br />cils.

<br /> A request of The Ferries Company to be allowed to extend its ferry house on the Norfolk side
<br />from Water street to itc nresent location, at a cost of about $~0,000,00.
<br /> We-have considered this matter with renreSentatives of The Ferries Company, have con-
<br />eluded that the pro~osition is not advisable, and, therefore, recommend, that the request be not
<br />granted.

<br />the auto-patrol wagon.
<br />
<br />Bills of Delby, Nottingham Co. to amoun~t of $~74~50, for hire of the police patrol wagon
<br />for May, .June, July, ~ugust, September, October, November, and December 191~, and January 19L3.
<br /> We recommend that these bills be paid, when nroperly approved by the Police Committee.
<br />
<br /> (With Finance Committee), Concerning conditions ~n which the appropriation of $~,300~00
<br />for the auto-patrol wagon was allo~d. .-
<br /> So far as we have been able to learn, there were no conditions connected with this
<br /> appropriation, except what were included in the c~ntract with A. Wrenn & Sons, Inc., for same,
<br /> and we so report.
<br />
<br /> Bills of the Virginia Railway & Power Co. to amount of $9.$0, for lights furnished at the
<br />Police Station.
<br /> We recommend that these bills be paid when p~operly approved by the Committee.
<br />
<br /> Referred by Board of Aldermen February 18th.
<br />
<br /> A reconsideration of matter of a no!ice telephone service.
<br /> We have reconsidered this matter, and recommend that th~ Committee be authorized to
<br />advertise for bids to supply the City with a police telephone system~with, and also without,
<br />flash lights; and further recommend that the Central Phone station be abandoned when a general
<br />telephone system shall have been established.
<br />
<br /> It is fUrther recommended that an appropriation of $150.00 be made to pay for running
<br />expenses of the a~to-oatro! wagon for the yea~ 1913. -
