Common Council. <br /> Gentlemen:-- At meetings of the two branches_of City Coun- <br />cil February 11-1~, 19!3, your Almshouse Committee was authorized to advertise for bids to paint <br />th~ Almshouse buildings and an appropriation fo=~same was referred to the Finance Committee. <br /> At the March meetings of the Councils, said Committee reported, with recommendation that <br />the Almshouse Committee ~rnish further information coneernimg said painting and also concern- <br />ing the ~urchase of a wagon and harness for the Atmshouse~ previously asked for. <br /> As $300.00 had been allowed in the "budget" for painting and repairs to said buildings, the <br />A~mshouse Committee thought that the best way of giving such information would be to advertise <br />for bids to do the work. <br /> They have so advertised and have received the following bids therefor: <br /> <br />he being otherwise saris- <br /> <br />For Painting: <br /> G~o. A. B~inEl~y, $190.00 <br /> J. P. Hofler, S~6.00 <br /> L. P. Smith~ 197.75 <br /> Geo. A. Brinkley being the l~#est bidder for the work and <br /> <br />factory to the Committee, it is recommended that the award.for same be made to him under a bond <br />of $~0.00 for faithful performance of the work=:and that the City Attorney be instructed to <br />draft a contract between said painter and the City. to cover same. <br /> It is ~r%ner recommended that the .said $~00. O0 ~llowed in the "budget" for painting <br />and repairs be now made available to the Committee. <br /> <br /> With regard to the wagon and harness, which called for an appropriation not provided for <br />in the "budget" but about which t~e Finance CommitteeWanted information also, we have received <br />bids for the same, and such information will be turned over to the Finance Committee. <br /> <br />'(Signed). <br /> <br />C~as.
