P. <br /> <br />May 1$, 1913. <br /> <br />herein concerning the following matter fez.fred to the Joint Sewerage Committee April 8, 1913: <br /> <br /> Referred by Common Counci.1 April 8th. <br /> <br /> A communication from Winston Parrish and Bascom Sykes calling attention to the ~nsanita_~y <br />condition of certain colored tenement houses in Eastwood's Lane. <br /> We report that improvement to the condition complalned of would be best made by adopt- <br />lng the recommendation of the S~werage Commmttee November iH-19, 191~, that Hunter's and East- <br />wood's Lanes be sewered, at a cost of $511.50 and $404.50, respectively, and we now repeat said <br />recommendation. <br /> <br /> We report~£urther that we have made the usual annual advertisement to supply the Sewer <br />Power House wm~n coal, and have received one bid for same, from the Portsmouth Coal & Ice Co. <br />to supply ?00 tons of Pocahontas steam coal, E,000 lbs. to the ton, stowed in bin, at $5.05 per <br />ton. <br /> It is recommended that said bid be Accepted. <br /> <br />(Signed) J.F. Common Council. <br /> <br />in concerning the following matters <br /> <br />Gentlemen:-~ Your Ferry Committee respectfully reports here- <br />referred to the Joint Ferry Committee January 18-~1, 1913: <br /> <br />Referred ~y two branches January 18-Stet. <br /> <br /> Authorized to negotiate with the owners of "Newton's Wharf" relative to'its purchase by <br />Norfolk County and the C%ty fo~ additional ferry facilities. <br /> We respectfully report that.we have received two propoeitions~ for sale of suitable <br />property, one piece being on the west side of the ferry, known as "Camobell Wharf ~ and the otherl <br />on the east side of same, know~ as "Newton Wharf." <br /> The Committee hays h~ld several conferences 'with ~he Norfolk County Ferry Committe$, <br />and the propositions submitted have been carefully, examined. As a result of these deliberatmons, I <br />yeur Ferry Committee reoommend~ the Joint acq~isitmon, by Norfolk County and Portsmouth City of <br />the "Newton Wharf" property na~.~ed above, for $t15~000.00, in accordance with the following pro- <br />posal by Thomas N.
