<br /> The roll having been called, Mr. Hanvey moved that the rules be suspended to go into an
<br />election for filling a vacancy on the body from the Second Ward, caused by resiEnation there-
<br />from of Mr. Ellis W. Moore. ~The motion was adopted.
<br /> Whereupon, Mr. Hanvey nominated Mr. Calde~ H. Herbert ~o fill ~uoh vacancy, an~ there
<br />being.no other nominations, he was elected by the following vote:

<br /> The Virginia Railway & Power Company offered a bid for the same, accompanied by payment of
<br /> The President read the Act to govern the award of franchises, asked if there were any other
<br />bids, and there being none, the bid of said Virginia Railway & Power Company was, udder the law,
<br />referred to the Street Committee, and also the Board of Aldermen, and by th¢.following vote:

<br /> $50.00 to pay medical bill of Walter L. Sykes, policeman, on account of injuries received

<br /> It is recommended that Walter L. Sykes be requested to give the Committee an itemize~d
