' <br /> <br />referred to Finance Committee. <br /> A request was read also from the Treasurer to renew notes to amount of $98,000.00 falling <br />due in September, and $~0,000.00 due Street Paving Bond Account. <br /> On 'motion, the request was granted and by the following vote: <br /> Ayes-~Corbitt~ <br /> Hall, Parrish, Hanvey~ Noore, Johnson, Walker~ Cross, Tyler, Hawks, Hutchins~ ll. <br /> Mr. Parker moved that the Finance Committee make available $80.00 allowed in the Budget <br />for "Mire of Horses," and to allow $t8.00 out of said amount for horse collars. <br /> The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> By Mr. Parker, that the Fir~ Committee b~ authorized ~o advertise for bids to erect a hose <br />dryer at a cost not to'exceed $~00.00, said amount being allowed in the Budget. <br /> On motion, the au~thority was grant~d, the appropriation being referred to the Finance <br />Committee~ <br /> <br /> By the same, that the Fir~ Committee b~ authorized to sell a horse of the Park View Fire <br />Company at a sum not ies~ than SZ~O.O0. <br /> On motion, the authority was granted. <br /> <br /> ~r. Hall moved t~at the Mayor be requested to write to the Superintendent of The Ferries <br /> Company and have him r~pair at once the leaking steam valve in the cabin of the ferr2 boat ~City <br /> of Portsmouth." The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> On motion of ~. Johw~son, the advisability of putting men at work in the City Cemeteries <br /> on the same basis as the street hands~ that is~ they be given ten days'holiday after working <br /> t~ months, was referred to the Ordinance Committee. <br /> <br /> N~ Pa~ke= moved that the Finance Committee make available the appropriation al-lowed in <br /> the Budget for purchase of fire hose. The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. TyAer, ~n approprmat~on of $~00.00 for a playground at the corner of ~ythe <br /> and Cour~ stre'e~s was ~eferre~ to the Finance Committee. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tyler moved that the attention of the Street Committee be called to condition of drain <br /> at the north end of Fourth street. The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> By the.~same, that the Finance Committee consider an appropriation of $1,.000.00 in the Bud- <br /> ge~ for l~l~~ for improvement to playground at corner of Wythe and Court streets. <br /> The motion was adopSedo <br /> <br /> Nr. Johnson said that the matter of a light at the corner of Green and Grif£in streets, <br /> re~erred to the Light ~ommittee July 8th, had not been reported on b~m$~id COmmittee and he <br /> would like to have a report from them~and so moved.
