<br /> A communication was read from the Chief of the Fire Department, returning thanks for the
<br />appropriation allowed him to attend the ~nternational Association of Fire Chiefs in New York
<br />September 1st to 6th, and said communication was ordered to file.

<br /> A petition was received from the Chambers Fire Company for permission to use the playground
<br />for a carnival October BO-~Sth, and also to be exempt from payment of a_license tax on same.
