The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hall moved that the Chesapeake &'Potomac Telephone Company be reGueeted to issue in <br />the next book by i~eeparate directories for Portsmouth and Norfolk. The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hawks offered the following resolution, which was adopted: <br /> Resolved, That a ~ommittee <br />of five, three from the Common Council and two from the §card of Aldermen, be appointed to re- <br />port upon the advisability of adopting for the City of Portsmouth one of the forms of City Govern. <br />ment recently provide~ for by the Legislature, and if such form be deemed advisal~le in the opin- <br />ion of the Committee, the said committee is then authorized to prepare a detailed p~l~n~.Lof such <br />government and report the same to a Joint meeting of the City Councils. <br /> <br /> And on motions the following other matters were referred to: <br /> Finance Committee-- <br /> Order of <br />Court relieving estate of the late Jno.
