September 27~ 1994 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting or'the City Council on Tuesday, <br />September 27, 1994, there were present: <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., <br />James C. Hawks, James T. Martin, Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward <br />Robinett, Jr., V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, <br />City Attorney. <br /> <br />*Mayor Gloria O. Webb was absent. <br /> <br />94-372 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 <br />Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 27, 1994, for <br />the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> in addition, you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> 94-373 - The following items were discussed in the Public <br />Work Session: <br /> <br />1. School Facilities/Recreation Programming <br /> <br />2. Tourism/Convention & Visitors Bureau <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to go <br />into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section <br />2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br /> (1) Consideration of appointments to Boards and <br />Commissions by the City Council, as permitted under Subsection <br />(A) (1); <br /> <br /> (2) Consideration of the use or acquisition of real <br />property for public purpose in the southern, Port Centre and <br />central portions of the City, as permitted under Subsection <br />(A) (3); <br /> <br /> (3) Consultation with the City Attorney and briefing by <br />staff regarding legal matters involving the Abex Superfund <br />site~ as permitted under Subsection (A) (7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts <br />pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia <br />certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge <br />during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City <br />Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from <br />open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified <br />in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were <br />heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Exec. <br /> <br /> Ella W.
