<br /> Resolved, That the Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authorized to make notes
<br />in The Merchants & Farmers Bank, The Bank .of Portsmouth, the Bank of Tidewater, and The First
<br />National Bank of Portsmouth, to amount of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($80,000.00), to meet Current
<br />Expenses for February, 1915; said amount to be repaid from revenues of the City for the current
<br />year.

<br /> A statement from the Auditor of coupons becoming due~in January and Feb~aary~ 1915. We report that payment for these coupons has been provided for.
<br /> And in this comuection, it is recommended that the Auditor and Treasurer be instructed
<br />that in future, payment for coupons shall be arranged for at least 60 days in advance of date
<br />when they may become due.
<br />
<br /> To make available appropriation allowed in the Budge~ for hose, hose_expander and couplings~
<br /> Progress.
<br />
<br /> Bills of the Portsmouth Star against the Sixth and Seventh Wards to amoun~ of $1~.50 and
<br /> $149.00, respectively, for advertising the Delinquent Tax List.
<br /> It is recommended that these bills be paid, out of the first funds available to the
<br /> said Wards.
<br />
<br /> Resolution with regard to the City Collector and City Treasurer depositing funds o~ the
<br /> City equally or as near equally as practicable, betwee~ the.fom~ banks of the City.
<br /> It~is recommended that the resolution presente~ to the Common Council January 18th,
<br /> 1915, in regard to the depositing of funds in the several City banks, be adopted (See records
<br /> of the Common Council January 18th, page ~47).

<br /> A petition of the No~foik Society for the prevention of Cruelty to Children for an appro-
<br />priation of $850.00, to take care of indigent children from Portsmouthfor
<br /> It is recommended that said petition be allowed, and an appropriation to amount of
<br /> $8~0. be allowed.
<br />
<br /> Recommendation o~ the Street Committee that $1,4~5.15 be allowed to F. J. McGuire for work
<br /> done on upper High street.
<br /> It is recommended that said amount be allowed.

<br /> A petition of Ralph Bendcn~ policeman, to be paid $5S,75 for 81 1/8 days lost from duty

<br /> It is recommended that said petition be granted, and that the appropriation be allowed.

<br />$800,000. two year 8% no~es have been issued and the issue sold to Ness. J. Co Nayer & Co. of
<br />Cincinnati, 0., at par, less 1% brokerage. Notes were dated January lst~ 1915, and accrued in-
<br />terest from date of~notee to January ~Oth em which datedelivery was made through the Merchants
<br />& Farmers Bank of Portsmouth and the German NatiOnal B~uk of Cincinnati, 0., amounting to $1,000.
<br />was deducted from the brokerage.
<br /> The $800,000. received from the Ger~u National Bank of Cincinnati was deposited in
<br />the fou~ local banks, so divided as to reduce the amount of City's paper held as ~o December
