<br />the City of Portsmouth is concerned.
<br /> The Clerk was instructed to thank Mr. Posed for keeping the body poste~ in legislative
<br />matters relating to the City of Portsmouth, and to say furtherthat they approve of ~m action
<br />ae regards such bills.
<br /> A report from Mr. Baker, delegate appointed to attend a called'meeting of the League of
<br />Virginia Municipalities in Richmond, January Slst, :was r~d~ adopt~d, and ordered tO file.
<br /> On motion, the Ordinance Committee was instructe~ to p~pare an ordinance reducing the a-
<br />mount of bond required of the City Treasurer by the C~ty to$iO, 0OO. 00.
<br /> On motio~ it wac decided to go into an election of a President and of a Vice-President of
<br /> the body, made,neCessary by the death of C. W. Walker.
<br /> Whereupon, M~. Nontague nominated Mr. ~. Jgnee ~illiam~ Zor:'~'~siden~, and there being
<br /> no other nomination he was elected and bY the followzng vote:

<br /> Mr. Ballentine then nominated Mr. S. T. Nontague for the position, and he was elected

<br />efforts to secure this improvement for Norfolk."
