~ebz~ary. 17, 1914. <br /> <br /> Referred by Board of Aldermen September 16th. <br /> <br /> Instructed to take up with.the Virginia R~ilway & Power Co.' the matter of e~xtending its <br />street car service to West Park View. <br /> We report tha't we have had.this matter up with the Company on several occasions~ and <br />were advised a few days since by Mr~ Wheelwright, President of the Company, that he would sub- <br />mit a plan of such services to the 0ouncil at its regular meeting to be held on 'this date. <br /> <br /> Referred by Boa~d of Aldermen August 19th. <br /> <br /> To take up with the Virginia Railway & Power Co. _the proposition to ~ its cars regularly <br />until 1 o'clock at night. <br /> In conference with President Wheelwright, we urged that he 6potato his ca~s in this <br />City as late as 12:30, in other words, a~ra~ging to have the last cars leave the ferzy at <br />instead of 12:00, as heretofore. <br /> We have a letter from Mr. Wheelwright dated February 5th, and quot~e the following pa~a- <br />graph from the same: <br /> "In reference to extra car service at ~:30, I had the mattez investigated <br />by the Operating Deps~rtazent, and referred the ma. tter to ~. C..B. ~B~A. oh~nan,..Gen, eral M.a~.ager he_~e. <br />I am~advised by.him today that he has instructea that this servmee ce iUrnlsnea prompmmy as re <br />quested." <br /> <br /> We attach hereto a letter from t'he Portsmouth Coal & Ice Co. in which said Company offers <br />to haul and distribute .the crushed stone necessary fo~ the improvement of ~he elcl ?e?tern Brs~nch <br />road, which connects Nigh street, neA~ five points, wi~h Glasgow s%r~eet, near Virginia avenue, <br />a distance of about three blocks. <br /> As the improve, ment of this ~piece of moadwa¥ will connect the extreme end of High <br /> ~o=s, recommend~that the mattez be <br /> <br />street with Glasggw street, we deem <br />referred to the Sxxth Wa~d Local Improvement <br />the matter up with the Supervisors of Norfolk 9ounty, <br />report to the Council at itc next regular meetmn~ <br /> <br /> the reqnest that the said Boa~d take <br />and make an effort to submit a favorable <br /> <br />(Signed) O.P.
